The Anyblade is an Entad, originally created for one of Juniper Smith's Dungeon's and Dragons games. It was held by one of Reimer's characters, who used it to great effect, frequently to pick locks. On Aerb, it was invested to Juniper by Amaryllis after being retreived from the vault at Caer Laga[1], then eventually incoporated into Bethel.
Description
Edit
The Anyblade has no default look. It has the ability to constantly shift to the wielders desire. When Juniper first used the Anyblade on Aerb, it's length, sharpness, thickness shifted constanly before he consciously morphed it into an axe, a dagger and then to a bronze Khopesh. [1] As it shifts, it makes itself perfectly balanced.
The Anyblade can only morph into blades, but is not very strict on what a "blade" is. Notably, Reimer frequently used the Anyblade to pick locks.[2] It has shown to grow as large as eight feet and shrink down to the size of a toothpick or a ring for easy transport. It seems to be able to change material, but the ability has only been displayed once.
Notable Forms
- Polearm with hook to ascend a wall[3]
- Sickle[4]
- Sword with key in the hilt[2]
- Greatsword[5]
- Collar with blades pointing at someone's face[6]
- Ring[7]
- Toothpick[8]
- "claw-like" Climbing device[9]
Incorporated into Bethel
Edit
The Anyblade was incorporated into Bethel in an attempt to allow her to change her shape at will. It allows Bethel to "take on any shape or property within the ill-defined conceptual boundaries of what a house is."[10] Bethel frequently uses this to make herself into a massive palatial house, and, when needed, into a fairy house on top of a staff for ease of movement.[11]

- ↑ 1.0 1.1 It immediately sprang to life in my hands, changing and warping into different forms, becoming thicker, then thinner, sharp, then dull, long, then short, never staying as one particular sword for very long. Despite that, it was perfectly balanced in my hand the entire time, forming counterweights in the grip to ensure that the shifts it underwent weren’t too jarring.
“Oh, neat,” I said. “It’s the Anyblade.” I directed a thought at it and transformed it from a sword to an axe wrapped in decorative gold hair, then to a small dagger with a skull on the hilt, then to a bronze khopesh.

—Worth the Candle Chapter 105: "Notes" - ↑ The idea of being a mobile home, or worse, only technically a home by the definitions that her Anyhouse ability allowed, seemed somewhat abhorrent to her. To temporarily be a thick staff with a fairy house on top was, it seemed, an experience reserved for special occasions.
